What is the appeal of Luaggie?
So many people ship it. It's alright and all, but why is it as popular as it is? Maggie never really speaks to Luan...so is it just because they're close in age and have opposing personalities?

Cause that sounds pretty forced. Which it is.

Opposing personalities in shipping catnip in practically every fanbase, not just Loud House. Ex: It's the same reason Lynncoln is the most popular incestship and Ronniecoln is the most popular non-incestship. Personality, I find both find Luan and Maggie cute, and find the interactions in fanart more entertaining than theirs with Lincoln (the Maggiecoln porn was pretty hot though) like Maggie giving Luan (and Mr Coconuts) a gothic makeover or Luan bringing happiness to a girl with such a dour personality. Maybe that's not a super deep reason to like it, but it's just a ship about two girls from a children's cartoon, it's not like I need to write a college thesis about why I enjoy looking at two cute girls having fun together.

I don't know what you mean by "forced" can you describe what you mean by that?

The more hate something gets, the more people want to defend it.

I think the idea of cute scenarios in which Luan tries to make Maggie laugh is part of why people draw and write them as a duo. Which becomes romance and not just friendship because...

...reasons?

Also, because they're characters. Sometimes, that's all a shipper needs.

I remember discussion about how the luaggie fanart was all (if not most) made by just one person. I still think this is true.

and it's obviously a forced ship, it's two characters that never had any kind of interaction. shippers don't need rhyme or reason to do what they do, it's all fanfiction just like how lincoln is a """"chad"""" in drawings when he's the dorkiest and most insecure twat in the show, as shown in white hare.

This is incorrect. Just looking at the first page of a Luaggie search will show multiple artists.

A search of Luaggie will give you 24 pages of results, while a Luaggie + bunnyabsentia (one of the artists who popularized the ship, along with coyoterom) search will only show 3 pages worth of results. Although to it be fair, there could be more Luaggie art made by bunnyabsentia that is just missing the tag for the artist.

There's a ship for every single one of us and there's always going to be several people who will not like or hate the ship's you do. That's how I keep sane.

More like highly factual.

@ Misha, I said it's forced because of the lack of interaction between Luan and Maggie. I personally only like ships if there's something- anything -supporting it, but I do like all the Maggie headcanons made by fans trying to make it work. It's nice in its own way, just not really for me. I dig a lot of the art.

That's understandable. To me, when people say a ship is "forced" it implies a certain insincerity behind it. Like when SJW members of the fandom were trying to push DipperXLynn. They didn't truly care about the ship, they were just hoping it would wind up replacing Lynncoln in the hearts of the fans. So they were FORCING themselves to like it because they wanted to get rid of incest art they dislike instead of legitimately liking it.

For your definition of forced, I think most people would refer to that as a crackship, aka an odd ship that has very little or no chance of happening. Some examples would be Lord Dominator from Wander Over Yonder and The Queen of Mars from Duck Dodgers or Toph from Avatar the Last Airbender being shipped with Venom from the Spiderman comics. Theoretically, Lincoln and his various family members and background qts would be crackships, but I wouldn't count them as such since they're the "main" ships of this show.
